'Emma Stone's face though...'

Oscars fans share hilarious memes poking fun at the Best Picture fiasco, Ryan Gosling’s ‘date’ and Nicole Kidman’s bizarre CLAPPING

IT’S the most prestigious award ceremony in all of showbiz land – but sometimes things don’t always go to plan.

Disaster struck at the Oscars 2017 last night after Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway wrongly announced La La Land as the winner of Best Picture, rather than the triumphant Moonlight.

In a heart-stopping moment the A-list stars and producers of La La Land rushed to the stage to give enthusiastic thank you speeches, before being forced to hand their trophies to the true winners.

And Twitter showed no mercy.

Celebrities including Neil Patrick Harris, Oprah and Ellen Degeneres flocked to the social media site to air their shock.

While Twitter contributors criticised the 89th Academy Awards and announcers with laugh-out-loud memes of Miss World (Host Steve Harvey sent the internet into meltdown in 2015 after incorrectly announcing Miss Colombia as the winner instead of Miss Philippines) and Hermoine Granger's polyjuice potion blunder in Harry Potter.

Democrat supporters joked the US Presidential Election results were also wrong and that Hilary Clinton should be in the White House, while others couldn't stop laughing at Emma Stone's comical expression.

But that wasn’t the only jaw-dropping moment from the glitzy ceremony, from Nicole Kidman’s clapping to Ryan Gosling’s hot sister here are the best memes from the web.
