Brave Carren Bell set up charity after losing her baby and could win Mum Idol 2017 for helping others through ordeals

As the CEO of Lagan's Foundation, Carren trains people to care for children under five with heart conditions and feeding issues

CARREN BELL has been nominated for our Mum Idol contest after losing one child, nearly losing another – then devoting her life to help others through similar ordeals.

Daughter Lagan was born with a heart defect and died at just 15 weeks in 2011.

Then, less than a year later, when Carren was nearly eight months pregnant, she almost lost her unborn son Lochlyn in a car crash.

But the inspiring mum has turned tragedy into triumph by creating a charity that has already helped 70 families.

As the CEO of Lagan’s Foundation, she trains people to be qualified carers to kids aged up to five with heart conditions and feeding issues.

Carren, 37, and her partner, car salesman Barry Grant, 35, of Bolton, also have a daughter, Ceridwen, aged eight.

In January 2012, when 31 weeks pregnant, Carren had a collision while driving her car.

The seatbelt compressed her stomach and her unborn son suffered a foetal maternal bleed.

When he was born at 39 weeks he was rushed to intensive care but is today a healthy four-year-old.
