Buyers of Nestle-owned catfood brands have seen Felix up four per cent, Purina Go-Cat by five per cent and Gourmet seven.

In Tesco, Asda and Waitrose a 85g tin of Gourmet is up 11 per cent to 50p. But a pack of six is up a third to £2.

Whiskas adult fish selection and mixed selection packs are up 27 per cent. Whiskas products are up two per cent on average.
Two other Mars brands were cheaper — Iams, down nine per cent, and Sheba, one per cent less.
Mars-owned Cesar dog food is up six per cent across its range.
Pedigree products are up four per cent. Winalot is down four per cent and Bakers Complete down one per cent.
The Grocer said: “Pet food suppliers are facing the same hikes on raw material costs as food and drink firms.”
