HAVE you ever bought a brand new outfit in a shop and feel amazing when you try it on, only to get home and suddenly hate the way you look in it?
It turns out that lighting is everything - and the big brands go that extra mile in their fitting rooms to make sure we look our best so we're more likely to buy their clothes.
A Russian blogger tested out this theory by visiting 11 different high street shops to show how big brands kit out their fitting rooms to show off their customer's best assets with flattering lighting and mirror trickery.
Inna, who blogs on her site , then posted the pictures taken in the shops alongside an unflattering picture of herself at home to show the effects of the special lighting and mirrors.

Previous studies have revealed the effect changing room mirrors can have, with some high-street mirrors designed to be extra-flattering to the customer.
The tilt of the mirror can be used to accentuate or hide curves, whilst even the iron content of the mirror can play a role.
Although all mirrors contain iron, the substance is known to give a faint green tinge to the viewer's skin.
Therefore, many changing rooms will feature specially selected low-iron mirrors, which make the skin appear healthier and more natural.
Meanwhile, lighting can be deliberately angled to create an angelic halo effect, which can make the customer's complexion seem better.
