AFTER six long years of missing loved ones, surviving on tight rations and living in fear of the next raid, World War II finally ended in 1945.

But a new BBC TV drama asks the disturbing question, 'What IF the Nazis had succeeded in their plans to occupy Britain?'

SS-GB shows what life would have been like if the Axis powers had won the Battle of Britain.

Hitting screens in late February the adaptation is based on the alternate reality of the 1978 novel by espionage author Len Deighton.

Opening scenes of the five-part series - which has been three years in the making - shows some of Britain’s most iconic landmarks crumbling under heavy bombing, a pile of rubble compared to their former glory.

As far-fetched as the idea seems, it’s had they succeeded in occupying Britain.

The streets are filled with swastika drapes, the crumbling walls of Buckingham Palace are all symbols of the defeat of a once-proud nation in the Second World War.

Sam Riley and Kate Bosworth lead the cast, where a detective gets caught between Scotland Yard, the SS and the resistance movement while investigating a murder.

We also recently reported on the latest book on Adolf Hitler, MeinKampf  in which the Nazi leader laid out his warped vision for the future of Germany, is one of the most notorious books in history.

A new version of the extensive work, whose title translates as ‘My Struggle’, has become a bestseller in Germany after selling 85,000 copies since being published a year ago.

Though for some Londoners seeing nazis on the streets may feel de ja vu, as there was a nazi-themed cafe which sparked international protests over its ghoulish hitler-themed decor.
