Kroc’s journey begins as a milkshake salesman who dreams of starting his own business after visiting a highly popular diner named McDonald’s in 1955.

The business mogul was so struck by the speedy service and simple food menu that he made plans to turn the outlet into an entire chain.

After meeting with the two McDonald brothers, played by Nick Offerman and John Carroll Lynch, Ray was struck by their remarkable story.

The film shows how the original diner was a product of the American dream.

Even though the brothers grew up in poverty, they were able to grow their small hot dog stand to a successful business model.

Although the McDonalds initially rejected Ray’s franchise business offer, they were eventually won over by a rousing speech.

The entrepreneur passionately suggests how the Golden Arches could soon become a representation of America to the rest of the world.

As well as highlighting the founder’s franchising ambitions, the movie also captures his struggles along the way.

They are forced to compromise on some of their original recipes and values in order to make the business scalable.

The film depicts how relationships can fray when work tensions are rife.

One particular scene shows Ray promising to give the McDonald brothers a one per cent cut of all earnings.

After shaking hands with his business partners, he went back on his word and the pair were forced to take their name off the original restaurant.

The movie reveals how Ray finally reaches his dreams at the detriment of others... all because he was so taken with the surname McDonald.
