A dice, a cockroach and an anchor are some of the most startling emblems.

Tongue tattoos are believed to be less painful than inkings on other parts of the body.

“This may surprise you to hear, but getting a tattoo on your tongue is not as painful as getting a tattoo on many other areas of your body,” commented Tattoo Destination.

“In fact, tongue tattoos are considered relatively painless.”

The process is essentially the same as with any other tattoo, but the artist will use a tool to keep the tongue out and still.

Needles are used to puncture the skin and coats of ink are used to colour the design in.

A tongue tattoo takes less time to heal – about three weeks – than other emblems.

While the obvious place to tattoo is the centre of the tongue, people have chosen to ink the side for smaller designs.

But this isn’t the first unusual tatt craze.

Body art lovers have also been inking their inner-lip after Kendall Jenner showcased her design on social media.

As the tatt is on such a delicate area, the image is likely to bleed and distort.

It’s been reported that this can happen just months after getting the design done.

With inner-lip tattoos, it’s also easy to get an infection.

As bits of food and drink can contaminate the area, it’s advisable to regularly wash the mouth out and take extra precautions when it comes to after-care.

Other tatt fans have removed their socks and showcased the bonkers designs they’ve had tattooed onto their feet.

From retro cartoon characters to shriek-inducing spiders and colourful cars, these doodles are for the bold only.
