Camera-loving panda cub poses for series of SELFIES with lucky tourist in Chinese animal research centre

Meng Meng knew how to work the camera in the series of adorable selfies

ONE lucky tourist got the selfie of a lifetime with an adorable panda cub at Chengdu zoo in China.

The bear, called Meng Meng, not only poses for camera, seems to take the young woman's hand to guide the selfie stick, perhaps to get a better angle.

The snaps have been liked and shared tens of thousands of times on Chinese social media site Sina Weibo.

The pictures first appeared on the social media platform on January 11.

Two of the images were taken by an onlooker and show the bear snuggling up to the woman and the other four appear to be the selfie pictures the woman had taken.

At the Dujiangyang panda base in Chengdu tourists are allowed to get up close and personal with the state-protected animals.

It seems that the influx of tourists to the centre has made the animals used to human visitors, and they've even picked up a few tricks and the knack for taking the perfect selfie.

The viral pictures show the panda posing next to the woman and even putting one of its paws on her arm, as if attempting to re-position the camera.

In other photos, the adorable panda cub, which is about one year old, can be seen putting its paw under its chin in a classic selfie pose.

Founded in 2011, the Dujiangyan Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding is a research centre that rescues, cares for and breeds the endangered animals and is under the governance of the China Conservation and Research Centre for the Giant Panda (CCRCGP).
