Teen Blake Messick bags a free printer after pulling a cheeky prank on his neighbour… so would YOU have the guts to do it?
The 18-year-old sent the device a message to print; one with some pretty disturbing content
A PRANKSTER has devised a devilishly cunning trick to get a free printer – but it involves terrifying your neighbour.
Blake Messick, 18, from Houston, Texas, was printing some memes when he noticed the house across the road had got a new, unsecured wireless printer.
The joker decided to send the device a message to print; one with some pretty disturbing content.
“Hello. I am your printer. I have become self-aware. Run,” the eerie letter read.
Blake said he carried out the prank just to “make people laugh”.
He told he “didn’t think it would even go through to his printer”, but believed it was worth a try.
However, the joke took an unexpected turn when Blake later spotted the printer on the curb next to a pile of rubbish bags.
He said he’s not sure if it’s the same printer, but “it would be a scary coincidence if it wasn’t”.
The device is apparently out of ink but is otherwise functioning normally.
He added: “It’s possible that he threw it out for just thinking it was faulty, or maybe he didn’t know how to turn off the Bluetooth.”
Blake shared the hilarious saga online, writing on Twitter: “And that’s the story of how I got a free printer”.
The tweet has been shared over 47,000 times and liked by more than 61,000 people.
Some social media users though it was brilliant.
A user called @tbredin said: “This is fantastic. I’m going to print it everywhere, while @mancerrss said: “You’re a legend”.
Others questioned if the story was true.
@tonyarroyoo said: “Wow if that’s not fake I don’t know what is.”
While @Valentinobey called Blake “a scammer”.
Blake said he will “probably just return it” and hope that his neighbour will see the funny side.
