Best disposable nappy brand is an supermarket own brand that costs from just 5p a nappy
Consumer group Which? asked 2,000 parents to rate the best nappy brands
NEW parents could halve their costs by switching to highly rated cheap alternatives rather than buying well-known disposable nappy brands, according to new research.
Newborn babies use between six and 12 nappies a day - adding up to £87 for the first three months, according to Which?.
But the consumer group has found that parents could save £39 - almost half the amount - by downgrading to supermarket own brand nappies and parents claim they work even better than big name brands.
It asked 2,000 parents to rate disposable nappy brands, including Pampers and Huggies, as well as cheaper supermarket brands, such as Aldi, Lidl and Tesco.

HOW TO GET THE BEST DEAL ON NAPPIES
Nappy comparison website Bumdeal.co.uk is a nifty website that allows parents to compare prices, depending on the brand and nappy size.
You can also use grocery comparison website mySupermarket.com to see how much they cost at your chosen supermarket - and if you can save money by shopping elsewhere.
It also allows you to view the historical price, so you’ll know whether their current price is more expensive than they are usually sold for and whether you’re getting a good deal.
Buy in bulk when they are on offer to reduce your costs - but beware of buying too much in one size (especially newborn) as your baby may outgrow them sooner than you expect.
