Rare drone footage shows the jaw-dropping moment a killer whale eats a live SHARK

The clip has been viewed over 100,000 times in two days

A DRONE has captured the incredible moment a killer whale kills and eats a live shark.

The rare moment was captured by Slater Moore, who was whale-watching in Monterey Bay, California.

As a group of whales swarmed over another creature in the sea, the watchers decided to employ a drone to take a closer look.

The aerial camera captures the scene unfolding, as one of the orcas grabs a sevengill shark in its jaws.

After the creature squirms around in the whale’s mouth for a few seconds, it then hangs lifelessly.

The predator then passes round the carcass for two calves to feed on.

Researcher from the California Whale Project, Alisa Schulman-Janiger, told GrindTV: “It’s a very rare sighting, and an extraordinary observation.

“I do not think that anyone has drone footage of this prey-sharing, involving very small calves, in California.”

Since the rare footage was posted on the Facebook group on Tuesday, it’s been viewed over 116,000 times.

One commenter remarked: “Nature is amazing in life and death… the hunter becomes the hunted.”

Another added: “That’s some amazing footage!”

The drone footage isn't the first shark clip to sweep the web this month.

Two weeks ago, a video emerged of the jaw-dropping moment a great white shark launched out of the water, snatching at bait.

The rare footage shows the predator propel its entire body out of the sea, with shocked onlookers screaming in surprise.
