Tom Hardy is reading a CBeebies bedtime story… and mums are getting hot under the collar about it

Always fancied settling into bed and Tom Hardy reading you a story? Well, you’re in luck as the actor and his dog Woodstock will host CBeebies Bedtime Story on December 31 – and mum’s are getting hot under the collar.

The handsome hunk will be telling the tale You Must Bring a Hat, by Simon Philip and Kate Hindley, which is aimed at children aged two and over, and tells the tale of a little boy who is going to a party.

CBeebies announced the show on Facebook in the most hilarious way. It said: ” New Year’s Eve. Tom Hardy. Bedtime Story. You’re Welcome.” And the internet lost its mind.

Natasha Hoey said: “This is enough to make me forgive you for Mr Tumbles Christmas Album”, to which CBeebies replied: “Tom is out gift to you, the album was cutesy of BBC Worldwide.”

Carline Paterson pointed out: “And ladies don’t you forget even if your ‘kids’ are like 27, they are still your babies so it would be wrong to to miss this…right?” CBeebies agreed: “CBBC, you listening?”

Mum’s and dad’s got excited on Facebook about the prospect

One mum had lots of questions, and didn’t know how to prepare for the big New Year’s event.

She wrote: “Three long years of upsy daisy and igle pigle… this is the best news I have had.

“What should I wear? How long do we have?

“The child will have to be very quiet at this story time… it’s a special one.”

In the promotional picture for the event, Tom is seen in a plaid shirt reclining on a multi-coloured sofa – hugging a teddy bear under a purple blanket.

Mum’s and dad’s who are excited about this news will be pleased to hear that Tom will be doing more later in the year for the children’s channel.

Oscar-nominated Tom, is considered to be one of Hollywood’s most talented performers and has starred in blockbusters including Inception, Mad Max and Legend.

Tom joins the list of celebrities who have presented a CBeebies Bedtime Story, including Emilia Fox, Damian Lewis, David Tennant, Tim Peake, Nadiya Hussain, Warwick Davis, Derek Jacobi, Maxine Peake, James McAvoy and David Hasselhoff.

Other CBeebies Bedtime Stories over Christmas and New Year will be read by Isla Fisher, Maureen Lipman, Justin Fletcher, Sam Nixon and Mark Rhodes.
