Newlywed hits back at sneering shop assistant who called her £100 engagement ring ‘pathetic’
The ring was described at "pathetic"
A WOMAN'S response to a callous shop assistant who labelled her $130 ring as "pathetic" has gone viral.
In a Facebook post that has been shared nearly 50,000 times, Ariel Desiree McRae shared a picture of the two rings she proudly wears, given to her by the love of her life.
She wrote that she and her husband Quinn were tight on money but didn't want to wait any longer to get married.
Ariel explained: "My husband doesn't have a lot, neither of us do.
"We scrape and scrape to pay bills and put food in our bellies."
She told her husband that she didn't need a ring, but he insisted on getting her one anyway.
The couple, from Tennessee, US, visited popular jewellery store Pandora and bought a sterling silver and cubic zirconia engagement ring set for the occasion.
Ariel said she overheard a shop assistant saying: "Y'all can you believe that some men get these as engagement rings? How pathetic."
The encounter left Quinn understandably deflated and upset.
Ariel wrote: "He already felt like a failure, asking me again and again, 'Are you sure you'll be happy with these? Are you sure this is OK?'
"He was so upset at the idea of not making me happy enough and of me not wanting to marry him because my rings didn't cost enough money or weren't flashy enough."

But none of that mattered to Ariel.
She said: "Y'all I would have gotten married to this man if it had been a 25-cent gumball machine ring.
"It isn't the ring that matters, it is the love that goes into buying one that is. "
The couple eloped at a courthouse in a no-frills ceremony.
She gushed: "I've never been this happy in my life and I couldn't image spending it with anyone else ever.
"Here I am, courthouse married, $130 ring set, the love of my life by my side and happier than I could ever imagine."
