Woman turns all the stars we’ve tragically lost this year into ANGELS on her Christmas tree
A WOMAN distraught by the number of celebrity deaths in 2016 has turned the late stars into angels on her Christmas tree.
Twitter user , who goes by the name of Legs, posted an image of her stunning creation to Twitter, where it's already clocked up more than 1,000 likes and 631 retweets.
The tree pays tributes to the likes of Terry Wogan, David Bowie, Prince and Caroline Aherne, who all passed away this year.
At the top of the tree is a 'Toblerone angel' - a tongue-in-cheek tribute to the scandalous downsizing of the triangular-shaped chocolate bar.
The 36-year-old business owner from York, who wished to remain anonymous, said she was delighted by the reaction to her decorative tribute.
She told The Sun: "It looked so pretty when I put it up yesterday afternoon and I couldn’t resist taking a picture. I just thought, ‘My friends will enjoy this’, but I did not expect it to be so popular.
"I woke up this morning and I was in Twitter moments, I couldn’t believe it!"
'Legs' explained how the idea was inspired by a similar tribute tree her sister had created in the late 90s after the death of Princess Diana.
She said: "You know there was this big outpouring of grief and she that year did a Princess Diana tree as a little tribute.
"This year she said, ‘You should do a celebrity angel tree, it’s been so miserable’, and I thought, that’s a great idea.
"So she drew me the wings – she’s an illustrator - and I printed them off and made them and put them up yesterday.
"It took me probably all of Sunday, and Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings to put all the angels together because I had to cut out all the wings and make the little bodies and halos and print all the faces and stuff.
"It took me back to my childhood with all that cutting out!"
She admitted not every famous person who died this year is on there, as there simply wasn’t room on the tree.
“If you Google celebrity deaths of 2016 there are I think probably thousands,” she explained.
“My sister had given me a number of wings that I’d be able to use, so I kind of based it on that.
“I had to be quite selective, so I suppose I’ve chosen the people who really chimed with my youth, childhood and adult years and made the biggest difference in my life.
“But I haven’t been able to choose them all as we’ve just lost too many this year!”

Following the tragic news which broke last night that Fawlty Towers actor Andrew Sachs had passed away, Legs exclaimed: "I’ve got to make him an angel now! I’m going to use glitter for our December angels, let’s hope there aren’t too many."
She explained the stars are arranged on the branches randomly as she didn't want anyone to think a particular celebrity was more or less important than the others.
She added: "Fidel Castro’s halo keeps slipping!
"I voted in so I thought it was important for the EU to be up there, but I don’t want it to be a political thing! It’s a little bit of much needed cheer at the end of 2016!
"I was dying for the first of December as I just needed to cheer myself up!"
She told how her sister has let her share a template of the wings as she’s been inundated with people asking for the design so they can make their own Christmas angels.
She added: “I’ve set up a , so if people want to use them, make a little donation to Macmillan Cancer Care.
“When I did the tree I just did it to make people smile, it made me smile as I was doing it, and I just thought so many of those people were lost to cancer, and I’ve lost plenty of people I’m afraid to cancer in my life, and I’ve known plenty of people to live through it.
"So it would be really, really nice to get something out of it in that regard."
Speaking about the chocolately star at the top, she joked: "That was a very sad loss - they’ve changed an institution!
"I knew putting the Toblerone on the top would make people know that I was tongue-in-cheek as well, it wasn’t a macabre tree, it was all done in good spirits to make people smile!
"But equally it meant I didn’t have to choose one soul to put at the top of the tree – the Toblerone was the perfect get-out clause!"
