Donald Trump fans convert their 3-bed house in Warrington into Trump Towers for just £799… here’s Trump fans convert their 3-bed house in Warrington into Trump Towers for just £799

One enterprising family have created a Presidential home at a bargain price complete with pillars and a lion

HERE is a comb-over makeover that is enough to make your hair stand on end.

A plumber and his family have played their Donald Trump card with a tribute to the US President-elect’s £80million apartment — for less than £800.

Stephen Rutter, 43, had his £250,000 three-bedroom semi-detached home turned into a gaudy nod to Trump Tower.

And he made it look like the extravagant 66th-floor New York pad using some carefully-chosen accessories bought for a fraction of the price — and a splash of gold paint.

The Sun on Sunday based it on a 2010 picture of Trump with wife Melania, 46, and son Barron, now ten, who was sitting on a toy lion.

So we kitted out the family’s home in Warrington with pillars, ornate furniture and garish decorations.

Stephen, wife Joanne, 39, and son Sam, 12, were dressed in new clothes and given a Trump makeover to look like the new First Family.

And we even found a big cuddly lion for Sam to perch on.

Stephen said: “I think I look a bit of a clown as Donald Trump and our lives couldn’t be more different.

“I’m normally in overalls and jeans for work, not dressed up in a suit.

“He is so far out of touch with real people, whereas I’ve got my hands down people’s loos most days.”

“But it has been a laugh being the Trump family. Joanne looks stunning in her dress and I love her hair.

“I’m not sure about the wig and the fake tan on me though.

“It’ll be interesting to see what my mates in the pub have to say.”

Trump’s apartment offers stunning panoramic views over Manhattan and the rest of the Big Apple.

But there was only so far the budget would stretch and the Rutters had to make do with their garden view of the Manchester Ship Canal.

Billionaire Trump spared no expense on his gold and marble- covered home.

It was decorated in the 1980s by interior designer Angelo Donghia, who died in 1985 aged 50, and is considered one of his finest works.

The ceilings are adorned with scenes from Greek mythology, side tables are covered with family photos and scatter cushions bear the Trump coat of arms.

American Donghia believed that “You should feel at all times that everything around you is attractive, and you are attractive”.

Joanne, a full-time mum, said: “We’ve followed the American elections and like everyone else we were shocked when Donald Trump won.

“But you have to admit he’s out there, his home is amazing.

“It may be a bit brash, there may be a bit of gold but we thought it would be fun to turn our home into Trump Tower for a day.

“It’s been fun having our house styled like his but it’s really not to my normal taste.

“I think all that glitz and gold all the time would give me a bit of a headache, to be honest.

“I can’t wait to get all this make up and my eyelashes off and get back to normal.

“But I wouldn’t mind getting my hands on Melania Trump’s credit card for the day!”

Son Sam showed he was also game for a laugh by sitting on the lion just like Trump’s boy Barron.

And he is prepared for a bit of mickey-taking by his pals.

He said: “I’m a couple of years older than Barron and taller as well — far too big to be riding on a lion.

“I think it would be fun to live in a house like his for a day but I reckon I have a much better time living here with my mum and dad in Warrington.”

Stephen said: “It has been a great laugh — I think we fit nicely into Trump Semi.”

He added: “I’m thinking of using the photos for the Rutter family Christmas card this year.”

If you want to make your family home look like the next First Family’s here is all you need, along with the, er, Trumped-up charges . . .

Joanne’s Halston Heritage dress was a snip at just £60 on eBay.

Her Ravel sandals were £70, while Stephen and Sam wore £75 suits from Marks & Spencer with a shirt and tie set for £15.

Sam’s loafers were £28 and Stephen’s brogues £48, both from Burton.

Stephen’s wig was £25 from Beyond The Fringe in Warrington.

We hired the white pillars for £60 to recreate those on either side of the windows chez Trump.

And we spent £20 on panels of wood and skirting board that we then sprayed with £4.99 gold paint.

The stunning ornate gold thrones can be hired for £60 each, and the ornate French console table for £50.

A gold rug was £30, the candelabra in the background £30 and ten candles cost £5 from Wilko.

For those final finishing touches and for real attention to detail, pick up a handful of toys to match those left lying around by Barron.

We found a stuffed lion on Amazon for £59.

Barron has private plates on his toy cars spelling his name.

But Sam had to settle for a limo from Wilko and two cars from Home Bargains for a total of £7.

Finally, we covered the table in four photo frames, which can be bought for as little as 50p each from budget store B&M.
