'WE HAD SEX ON A PLAYGROUND SWING'

Three couples reveal why they love the thrill of sex in public

Uptight Brits are becoming a nation of sexual exhibitionists as outdoor romps are on the up

UPTIGHT Brits are becoming a nation of sexual exhibitionists, according to experts.

Former rugby star Thom Evans was spotted last week having a public romp – and he is not the only one.

Professor Craig Jackson, head of psychology at Birmingham City University, exclusively told The Sun: “It’s a curious thing, because traditionally we have been a buttoned-up nation.

“But now reported cases of people making love in full view of others are becoming far more common.

“This is being called The New Hedonism – the idea that we can have whatever we want whenever we want it"

He believes people get extra excitement from “breaking the rules”, wanting to flaunt daring romps in the same way we show off our lives on social media.

Thom, 31, was snapped having an intimate encounter on a busy London street, days before giggling office workers filmed another pair having sex against the window of a hotel room in the capital.

Professor Jackson added: “Fuelled by social media, people film, photograph and share these acts so they get millions of views. Officially, it is still a crime, a public order offence, but the majority of people would just walk on by unless it is very blatant."

Here, DIANA APPLEYARD speaks with three real life couples who love open-air sex.

FASHION entrepreneur Sumit Chakravati, 27, claims that his daredevil nature has caused a love of risky sex. He lives in Victoria Park, East London, with partner Maria Guija, 33, a shop assistant.

Sumit says: “Exhibitionist sex is all about the thrill. It turns me on to think we might be discovered or someone is watching us.

“We’re very careful not to cause offence and always keep enough clothes on so we can hastily cover up, but I love the spontaneity of outdoor, exhibitionist sex. We frequently make love in public places such as the park or on the street.

“Recently we made love in the park on the swings but it was in the evening and there were only adults about. The funny thing is that there was a couple having sex right next to us.

“It’s very common for couples to make love in public these days.

“I love al fresco sex and there’s a lot more publicity about it, which makes you want to try it.

“I am a daredevil by nature – Maria is more shy – so I tend to lead her on.

“She’s nervous that people will catch us, but for me that is part of the attraction.

“Exhibitionist sex is much more exciting than normal sex – and it’s increasingly becoming part of our everyday lives.”

Maria says: “Sumit is more daring than me but he entices me to go along with him.
“I try to make sure we are under the cover of darkness but he actively seeks out the light as if he wants people to see.

“I am sexually adventurous and love trying new things – but I am originally from Spain and I feel the cold, so I have to keep wrapped up too.

“My favourite place to make love out in the open is on the beach.”

SINGER Madeline Ford, 28, and retail worker Ford Paul, 42, love the frisson of public sex. The pair live together in Islington, North London.

Madeline says: “Only last week, Ford and I were making love in a bed opposite a big plate-glass window. We deliberately left the curtains open so our neighbours could see us.

“To us, that’s part of the thrill and the attraction – the feeling that someone might be watching or even filming you.

“It heightens my pleasure in sex, the naughtiness and the daring. Besides, it’s nothing shocking now – so many couples are making love in public places.

“I think all of us have exhibitionist tendencies within us.

“You only have to look at all the exhibitionist websites to see just how many thousands of Brits love doing this.

“It is dangerous because strictly speaking, it’s still illegal in the UK. But I think the police would turn a blind eye as long as children don’t see you. I think people would just wink and smile. Recently, we were on holiday in Antigua and we made love many times on the beach. I was aware people were watching and that only turned me on more.

"The trouble is it becomes quite addictive and there is a danger ordinary sex can become quite boring.

“No one has ever challenged us but we are careful not to make love anywhere that might cause offence, like a park where children might be playing.

“We don’t strip off all of our clothes unless we are inside, so we can hastily re-arrange our clothing and pretend nothing has happened.”

Ford says: “Sex in the bedroom can get so boring. If there’s a risk of being discovered or feeling that people might be watching you, that turns me on.

“Often Madeline and I will have sex in the car, or drive around looking for places in the open to have sex where we might be seen.

“We’ve made love on beaches, in fields, up against a fence, in the town – you can always find a corner where you might be discovered.”

BAR manager Claire, 23, lives with her boyfriend Tony, 27, in Stoke Newington, North London. The couple, who asked us not to use their real names, used to enjoy public romps until they were caught in a park.

Claire says: “Tony and I started having exhibitionist sex as a dare a few years ago. We were getting drunk at a club one night and a friend dared us to have sex in the street outside.

“To date, we’ve had sex in parks in broad daylight, on waste ground by a factory, in a graveyard – which was very weird – and on the beach when we were on holiday. We used to do it at least a couple of times a month, but then we had a horrible incident about two months ago.

“We were lying in a park in London. It was a lovely, sunny Saturday morning at the end of the summer.

"We’d taken a bottle of wine, a picnic and a rug and we started kissing. One thing led to another.

“We were pretty oblivious until I heard this tremendous shouting. I lifted my head to see a woman with a dog on a lead and holding a child by the hand, who was only yards from us.

“She was yelling, ‘You’re disgusting, I’m calling the police!’ I hit Tony on the back and he stopped and turned round too.

“I was mortified. Suddenly exhibitionist sex didn’t seem such fun any more – the child might have seen us and we could have been arrested so we would have lost our jobs.

“The thought that anyone could see us used to turn me on and it felt very cool, daring and rebellious to have sex in broad daylight. Ordinary sex seemed very dull by comparison.

“But I can now see it’s a dangerous game and I’m not sure I would have the nerve again.

“I looked at the pictures of Thom Evans in the paper recently and actually thought, ‘What a prat, what is he trying to prove?’
