A STUDENT who was the victim of a bizarre Kit Kat theft has been consoled with 6,500 free chocolate bars.

Hunter Jobbins, 19, from Andale, Kansas, left his car unlocked outside his university halls only to return 15 minutes later to find his candy had gone missing.

The Kansas State University pupil received a semi-apologetic note from the unknown thief claiming they were “sorry and hungry”.

Hunter tweeted the anonymous confession note, written on a tissue, which said: “Saw Kit Kat in your cup holder. I love Kit Kats so I checked your door and it was unlocked.

“Did not take anything other than the Kit Kat. I am sorry and hungry.”

His post has since been re-tweeted over 180,000 times and liked by nearly half a million users since.

But it has all ended well for Hunter after the chocolate company Hershey, Kit Kat’s parent brand, realised he definitely deserved a break.

The brand decided to fill his car with thousands of biscuit treats.

They posted on the internet: “Keep your Kit Kat, thief. Hunter Jobbins now has ALL the candy.”

Kit Kat senior associate brand manager Shilpa Gadhok explained: “When we heard about what happened to Hunter, we felt his pain.

“That being said, we also deeply appreciate the ‘Kit-Napper’s’ sincerity in owning up to his craving—we can empathize… sometimes you just need a break.”

Meanwhile, earlier this year, a woman demanded a lifetime supply of Kit Kats after she bought eight of the chocolate bars to find none of them contained any wafer inside.
