This Time Next Year mum who weighed 25 stone vowed to lose 10 stone after being shamed as the ‘fattest woman on the plane’ by a fellow passenger
A WOMAN who weighed in at 25 stone vowed to lose 10 stone after being fat-shamed by a fellow passenger on a plane.
Sarah-Jayne Croft, who appears on Davina McCall’s new show This Time Next Year, was mortified when she caught sight of a text while travelling to Turkey with her daughter.
She said: “I weigh just under 25 stone. Where I’ve got bigger it’s begun to be an issue on public transport,
“I went on a plane last year with my daughter, to Turkey, and the woman next to me … I could see her texting and she wrote: ‘Oh my God I can’t believe I’m sitting next to the fattest woman on the plane.”
“She didn’t mean me to see it but it just broke my heart because I didn’t see myself as that.
“I see myself as a thin person trapped in a large body.”
The new show, which kicks off on ITV on Wednesday, invites guests to make a pledge to transform their lives and then reveals their progress a year later.
Hampshire mum Sarah-Jayne pledged: “This time next year I will have lost ten stone and be able to fit into a sexy superhero costume.”
She explained that she is a huge fan of the Rewind Festival, and had deliberately bought a costume several sizes too small to wear at the next one.
She added that she wanted to be a healthy weight to please her sick father.
She said: “I get emotional thinking about it. It would feel like I was me again and I haven’t felt that way in a long time.
“I know my family, my daughter and my parents worry about me. My father is very ill and it would be nice for him, before he goes, to actually see me achieving that.”
