Here are the countries which are even worse places to visit than North Korea

It turns out that the rogue state isn't even bottom of the pile, as far as dangerous destinations are concerned

IF you thought a trip to the ultra-secretive state of North Korea sounds terrifying, then you really haven't see anything yet.

Tourists enjoying a getaway in the communist country are shepherded around by ever-watchful guards, and any guests who go off the beaten track face a trip to prison or a forced labour camp.

And to make matters worse, North Korea has one of the worst human rights records in the world.

But it turns out that the rogue state isn't even bottom of the pile, as far as dangerous destinations are concerned.

From war-ravaged conflict zones to countries where criminal gangs rule the streets, these are the deadly destinations which make Kim Jong-un's dictatorship seem like a top spot for your next summer holiday.

Honduras

reports that this South American country is riddled with crime and violence, featuring one of the highest murder rates in the whole world.

What's more, armed attacks on tourists' cars and busses are commonplace, particularly in San Pedro Sula - where guests leaving the airport are targeted by organised criminals.

Chad

War-torn Chad managed to come rock bottom in last year's Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Report, which slammed the country for being dangerous and impoverished.

Visitors to the country face the risk of attacks by Islamist terror group Boko Haram, who have bee operating with increasing intensity in the African state.

Pakistan

One of the world's least peaceful countries, foreign travellers visiting Pakistan will need an armed escort to protect them.

Sectarian violence and human rights abuses single Pakistan out as one of the world's deadliest destinations, which is why most governments advise citizens to avoid travelling there at all costs.

Somalia

The most corrupt country in the world, Western tourists in Somalia will be at risk of attacks by terror groups and mercenaries operating in the African state.

The Foreign & Commonwealth Office advises Brits to avoid Somalia at all costs, making this war-torn country one place where you certainly would do well to avoid.
