Households could save hundreds by heating their homes with COFFEE as new ‘coffee logs’ hit the shelves
Your morning cup of coffee could be a cheap and sustainable solution to heating your home for less
COFFEE lovers can now heat their homes with their favourite brew - and save themselves hundreds of pounds.
Waste recycling company has launched its latest innovation, Coffee Logs, which turns coffee grounds into advanced biofuels and biochemicals to power homes.
They say the logs burn "hotter, longer and cleaner" than wood products, meaning British households can save money as well as help save the planet when using them.
But it's bad news for coffee addicts because the logs don't actually make your house smell like a coffee shop.
From today, Coffee Logs will be available to buy from supermarkets, petrol stations and garden centres across the UK.
Priced at £6.99, bio-bean also says you're entitled to a five per cent reduced tax rate if you are burning the logs.
Coffee Logs are a great way of saving money and helping save the planet.

Experts say however, there are many disadvantages to these kind of energy sources.
Biofuels naturally have a lower energy output than traditional fuels so they need much larger quantities to produce the same energy level.
As well as high cost and massive quantities of water being used to carry out the process, it's believed that although biofuels are cleaner to burn they cause hefty .
bio-bean’s founder and CEO, Arthur Kay, said: “bio-bean has been recycling waste coffee grounds into high-performance renewable energy products for several years now.
"From today, we are giving people throughout the UK the chance to do the same and get their home powered by coffee.
“With winter just around the corner, households are starting to think about getting the heating back on but don’t want it to cost the earth."
He added: "As heating costs continue to rise, your morning cup of coffee could be a cheap and sustainable solution.
"Coffee Logs are a great way of saving money and helping save the planet: our mission with bio-bean is to make the sustainable choice the logical choice."
bio-bean works with coffee shops, companies and factories from all over the UK to collect tens of thousands of tonnes of waste coffee grounds and recycle them into advanced biofuels.
What are the cons of wood burning systems?
1. AIR QUALITY. Hazardous gases such as nitrogen oxides and carbon monoxide are released when wood burns. All appliances must be permitted to meet air quality regulations and standards.
2. COST. Building a good-sized wood energy facility can be costly, so it may be a while until you see savings from lower fuel costs.
3. SIZE. Bulky fuel needs space to be stored in.
4. ELECTRICITY is needed to operate most pellet stoves.
5. WASTE ash that remains after burning needs to be safely disposed of.
They’ve now used this mind-boggling science to create Coffee Logs to use in open fires, solid fuel stoves and chimineas at home.
Bio-bean has a world-first factory in Cambridgeshire, where it processes tens of thousands of tonnes of coffee waste a year.
It has the capacity to recycle the waste from 1 in every 10 cups of coffee drunk in the UK.
The newly-launched company has been praised by some big names in the past for its innovative ideas.
Sir Richard Branson has called bio-bean “a superb business idea” and has said he is a huge fan of Coffee Logs.
