Tesco launches pre-Christmas price war on Argos… weeks after it was taken over by Sainsbury’s
Supermarket is hoping to replace Argos as the shopping destination for toys and games over the festive period
TESCO launched a pre-Christmas price war on ARGOS, weeks after it was taken over by rival SAINSBURY’S.
It said it would check its prices against Argos’s on 8,000 products.
It is also cheekily launching a catalogue, something Argos has been famous for since 1973.
The items Tesco is challenging Argos on include toys, games, electrical goods and homewear.
It will include Argos’s prices alongside its own on certain products in stores and online.
The move is a major test for Sainsbury’s, preparing for its first Christmas with Argos.
The Tesco catalogue, available in close to 900 of its stores, will feature some toys it expects to be bestsellers, including Hatchimals and Nerf Nstrike Hyperfire.
Tesco has taken out ads in national newspapers promoting toys.
