A MUM who went viral for her Facebook rant about John Lewis' £1.25 apple has got results.
Kat Pattison was outraged by an 'audaciously-priced' apple she bought for her 15-month-old son in a John Lewis cafe - the 'one healthy option available' - and publicly slammed the retailer for 'pricing people out of providing their kids a healthy meal'.
Her post took off, quickly racking up over 3,000 shares and 10,000 reactions.
She said: "I try to be a responsible parent and make sure that [my son] eats a healthy balanced diet - although this was pretty difficult due to the limited options they had on offer for kids.
"My son is a vegetarian, and the only lunch for him was a cheese sandwich."
According to Kat, the only snacks available were crisps, cookies or apples, so she picked the most nutritious option for the youngster, but was astonished by the price when she got to the till.
She said: "You might think it's a bit of an overreaction for £1.25, but honestly, we have a real issue in this country if any store - even John Lewis - thinks it's ok to sell a kid an apple for £1.25.
"When people are being priced out of providing their kids with a healthy meal, it's no wonder more than 30% of kids in the UK are classed as overweight or obese.
"What is wrong with the world when a corporation thinks profit is more important than the health of our children?"
It has been found that the Meditarranean diet, rich in fresh fruit and vegetables, is good for your heart, protects against cancer and vision loss.
Kat complained to a member of the customer service team at the time but says she was told the price of apple depends on the brand and the weight.
It seems, however, her viral post forced John Lewis to reassess their pricing.
A store spokesperson told Fabulous that Kat had been incorrectly charged and the apple should have cost 60p, or been part of the kids meal deal.
They have since added: "We believe Ms Pattison was charged the price of a pre-sliced apple pack, which was priced at £1.25.
"We have taken the decision to reduce the price of our pre-packed sliced apple to 70p, this change will be effective from [today]."
It's undoubtedly a consumer victory, although some Facebook users didn't agree with her original complaint.

One woman replied: "Whilst I completely agree that that amount is extortionate for one apple, I do feel that John Lewis is not the place to go for a reasonably priced toddler meal.
"All their food and drinks are pricey. We expect to pay over the odds for eating in their cafe."
Others were more preoccupied by the fact her baby was a vegetarian, with one writing: "I agree that the Apple is overpriced but more concerned that a 15 month old has chosen to be a vegetarian. Really.
"Is this a medical condition or parenting gone mad."
