THE festive season is almost upon us – and it’s no secret that this time can be a bad one for your bank balance.
In preparation for the influx of excitable shoppers, many companies are on a recruitment drive to find Christmas workers.
For anyone in need of boosting their cash flow, temporary work over this period could be a wise move this Christmas.
Bill Richards, UK Managing Director at job site , revealed: "The pressing need for talent at this time, combined with retailers trying to keep up with consumer demand during the shopping season, creates an additional burden on employers who need support from Christmas casuals, and fast."
So who is hiring this winter?
1. Royal Mail
In preparation for Christmas card and present mania, the postal service company is on the look-out for some temporary employees.
has set up their own casual job vacancies page, where they are searching for people to provide a service for 29 million addresses across the UK.
A range of roles are available, along with work across early, late and night shifts.
2. John Lewis
Is there a more Christmassy company than ?
The retail giant has already began scouting around for extra hands to help them during the festive season.
Temporary job vacancies include sales assistants, catering assistants and stock managers.
3. Marks & Spencer
From chefs to beauty customer assistants, are offering up a wide variety of roles this Christmas.
If you want to get your hands on a job sooner rather than later, the British retailer is taking in new workers NOW, all the way through to the New Year.
4. Sports Direct
Christmas workers at can earn up to £7.40 an hour this year, along with a 20 per cent staff discount.
While there are no set hours for employees, they can apply for shifts up until January 8th.

5. Argos
Whether you want to work on the road or serve customers in store, British catalogue retailer have released 10,000 positions available during the festive period.
The Christmas jobs advertisement reads: “Whether you’re serving customers in our stores or out on the road delivering that festive cheer, you’ll have plenty of reasons to be jolly.
“We’re a fun and friendly team. You’ll also enjoy competitive hourly rates, a variety of shifts (including evenings and weekends) and great discounts from the day you start.”

If you’ve got a passion for fashion, working at this popular high-street clothes chain could be a good fit for you.

Although workers are paid minimum wage, they have the opportunity to work until the first week of January.

There are few Christmas activities more exciting than browsing the luxurious aisles during wintertime.
The swanky London flagship store are on a recruitment drive to find capable worker who will be flexible enough to work on evening and weekend shifts.
Successful will even get a staff discount, making it the perfect place to shop for all your festive gifts.
8. Become Santa this Christmas
If there’s one person who is in high demand during the festive period, it’s Father Christmas himself.
To apply for the job of Mr Claus, you must be great with kids and be able to shout ‘ho ho ho’ all day long.
In many locations, including shops, garden centres and pop-up grottos, recruiters are on the hunt for wannabe Santas across the UK.
With salaries as high as £10 an hour, this could be the perfect work for drumming up some much needed Christmas cash.
