Pilots, flight attendants, doctors, nurses and those working in business – as CEOs, managers and secretaries – also topped the list of cheats.

The findings come from a poll of more than 5,000 ladies – all of whom are currently cheating on their partner.

The research also revealed that two out of three unfaithful women (65%) cheat in the workplace, but the vast majority (85%) wouldn’t recommend sleeping with a colleague.

The benefit of cheating on the job was said to be making work more exciting, fun and easy.

While cheats reckon the workplace is the best place to find someone you connect with, and have somewhere to hide while hooking up.

But the overwhelming downside of having an illicit liaison at work is that it could all come crashing down in flames, making the daily grind a lot more awkward.

One in five people said if their colleagues found out about the affair, and rumours started, there would be a greater chance of their partner finding out.

But 10 per cent of those polled were only concerned about their career, and fears mixing work and pleasure could hamper their job performance, rather than their relationship.

The poll of 5,658 ladies was done by Victoria Milan, a dating website for people looking to cheat.

Founder and chief executive Victoria Milan said: “The survey clearly shows that even though there’s a risk to your career, having an affair at work makes life a lot more pleasant.

“At the same time, the majority of cheaters would steer clear of mixing work with pleasure - not because it damages their career, but because they are at risk of being found out, or will feel uncomfortable.”
