John Lewis charging £450 to style, deliver and set up a Christmas tree
The high-street chain is offering shoppers the chance to have a dedicated Christmas tree "stylist" come to their home
DISCERNING shoppers in London with deep pockets can have their Christmas tree and decorations hand-picked, delivered to their door and set up by John Lewis - but it will cost you £450!
For the whopping fee, a Christmas tree “stylist” will visit your home, pick out the best tree and decorations for your needs, then come back and put the whole lot up for you in time for the festivities.
From today, shoppers can book a free Christmas consultation appointment at the retailer’s Oxford Street or Sloane Square stores in London. Appointments start on 1 December.
While the initial in-store appointment is free, a home visit costs £250, which can be redeemed on products in the store’s Christmas shop.
To get the tree delivered and set up with decorations in your home costs an additional £200, taking the cost of the full festive package to £450.
Anna Rigby, head of buying for home and gift accessories at John Lewis, said: “It is a premium service but having somebody take the weight of Christmas decorating off your mind is something special.
“We want to make Christmas as easy as possible for our customers.”
Dan Cooper, Christmas buyer, at John Lewis, said: “As a nation, we’re getting ever more competitive in ensuring that our tree is the best on the block and we then want to be able to share it on social media in a bid to keep up with the Joneses.
“We’ve also seen evidence of a rise in the multi-tree household with people purchasing more than one tree and creating more than one look.
For those who prefer to decorate their tree themselves, the department store will be offering over 100 free “Treetorial” masterclasses at its Oxford Street and Sloane Square stores every day at 1pm from 1 November. Other John Lewis shops across the country will also be hosting Treetorials during December.
Here, shoppers will be able to pick up what's hot and what's not in the Christmas tree stakes this year without the £450 price tag.
