Many cosmetics lovers will dip their brushes into powdered products when getting ready in the morning.

It’s all too easy to pick up too much product, so it can be a bit of a pickle getting rid of the extra.

When this pesky problem occurs, it is instinct to blow some off the powder off of the brush.

But don’t worry ladies, you’re not alone!

Kim Kardashian fell victim to the make-up mistake when she filmed herself doing her daily routine on Snapchat.

After dipping into her bronzer, she blew off the excess powder before applying the product to her face.

Worryingly, doing this increases the likelihood of bacteria festering on your brushes.

The mouth is home to a number of nasty germs that could be unwittingly applied to your face.

Make-up artists never blow onto brushes, because it can get bacteria onto their clients

Double dipping with dirty brush back into your cosmetic products can also cause them to become contaminated.

When the bacterial transfer occurs, make-up users are at risk of getting acne, irritated skin, eye cysts and styes.

The way to get over this annoying situation is to tap the barrel of your brush lightly.

If you have freshly washed hands, you can also use them to wipe off any excess product off.

It’s also advisable to wash your makeup brushes regularly and throw away any make-up that’s past its prime.

How to keep your makeup brushes clean?

– Every week, wash them an anti-bacterial treatment, such as soap
– If you want to keep your brushes extra soft, try using baby shampoo
– When washing, point the brush downwards into the water instead of submerging them, to prevent them from getting damaged
– Leave them dry on a flat surface, which will prevent the water from running down into the barrel of the brushes and causing the bristles to fall out
