Watching just 15 minutes of Postman Pat ‘can turn your kids into dullards’
Psychology expert has found that watching the show 'reduces the originality' of kids ideas
TELLY favourite Postman Pat stifles bright ideas in toddlers who are better off with jigsaws and books, psychologists say.
Experts tested three-year-olds and found 15 minutes of the show “temporarily reduces the originality of their ideas”.
Psychology lecturer Dr Sarah Rose said yesterday: “We compared children who watched fast and slow paced episodes of Postman Pat with those left to play with books and jigsaws.
“There is clear evidence the children had less original ideas immediately after watching TV.”
"Over time, if children are less creative in their play, this could negatively impact their development."
Sixty children were studied at Staffordshire University by a team that now plans to look at the effect on kids of Spongebob Squarepants.
