a gift too far?

Mum slammed for plans to spend £1k on EACH of her kids this Christmas… while others have a budget of £75

She made the grand announcement on Netmums... and her kids are getting ponies too

A MUM has been slammed by her fellow parents after claiming she plans to spend £1,000 on each of her kids this Christmas.

The woman, who goes by Charlotte C on Netmums, was also accused of bragging after mentioning the high price – as others admitted they could only afford £75 per child.

And the impressive price tag is not even her final budget, as Charlotte is also buying ponies for her kids.

She admitted: “Mine are getting £1,000 each plus they’ve asked for a pony. So they will get that as an added extra. Prices go up every year.”

One shocked Netmums user said: “Gosh that was so cringey that you jumped straight in with that, very braggy.”

But Charlotte responded: “I’m not bragging at all, you have no idea about me, nor what my family have been through, so if I can afford for 1 day a year to have a great day with my children I will do.

“I put money aside to be able to spend what I do at Christmas.”

Apparently, she and her husband have no family members apart from their kids – so all their presents would be coming directly from the couple.

Charlotte’s grand announcement was in response to one mum-of-two, who asked: “Am I the only one that thinks Christmas toys are getting more and more expensive every year?!

“I spent £400 on toys for my two daughters and looking at the pile is a disappointment.

“I don’t think I will be spending much more to be honest, my girls will have around £300 each spent on them… that’s including PJs and stocking fillers. How much are you spending this year?”

Hayley B said she didn’t have a set limit because her eldest child, who is 17, has different ‘tastes, wants and needs’ to his siblings.

Her other two kids are 13 and two, and Hayley added: “There’s no way I would spend ridiculous amounts of money on a two-year-old just so they had the same amount spent on them.”

While two other mums said they spent £75 each, with one saying: “I feel a bit mean now.

“However they do have a lot of family that buy for them so they get plenty. Plus their bedroom and playroom are bursting at the seams as it is. Big clear out next week I think.”

Jennie C was also planning to spend £1,000 on her daughter, who had asked for a car as a joint birthday and Christmas present.

Her girl will also be getting a Fiat 500 when she turns 17 in February, with Jennie adding: “But she can’t wake up to nothing on Christmas morning so she’ll get about £1,000 worth of gifts so she’s got something to open.”
