Croissants from high street chain Starbucks, M&S and Costa have nearly same amount of fat as a fry-up and are packed with sugar
We expose the contents of your favourite breakfast treat...
YOUR morning pastries can contain as much fat as a fry-up.
While a typical cooked brekkie has 16.1g of saturated fat, one Starbucks croissant has 14.8g.
That’s close to the 20g recommend for women for a DAY and half of men’s 30g.
Continental breakfasts have long been lauded as a healthy alternative to the full English.
But Public Health England is now warning cafes to cut back on sugar and fat in the continental breakfast staples.
Now The Sun on Sunday can reveal high street croissants can contain similar amounts of saturated fat to a greasy fry-up complete with egg, bacon, sausage, bread and beans.
While the typical full English has 16.1g of saturated fat, a single almond croissant at Starbucks weighs significantly less but still has 14.8g of saturated fat.
This is just 1.3g less than the entire plate of food.
It is also close to the 16g of saturated fat doctors recommend you eat during an ENTIRE day.

Sarah-Anne Lucas, the founder of the Birdonabike health company, said: “I would never eat a croissant for breakfast.
"There’s next to nothing nutritional in them and they are so full of sugar your insulin levels spike, so you will spend all day storing fat in your body rather than burning it.
"You are better off with eggs and bacon if you cook them the right way.”
