Wetherspoons has scrapped traditional Christmas dinner…and this is what’s on their festive menu instead
The pub chain got a roasting for ditching the classic festive feast but will fans like what's on offer instead?
WETHERSPOONS got a roasting last week for ditching the traditional Christmas dinner from its festive menu.
Fans were unhappy that Turkey and all the trimmings was ditched in favour of burgers and wraps in the pubs.
The move came several months after the pub chain axed its Sunday Roast, in February, for ‘commercial reasons.’
Fans of the chain’s budget pub food were not happy and the move sparked The Sun’s Save our Sunday Roast campaign.
But now the company has unveiled the festive fare that will replace Turkey and all the trimmings in its 956 boozers across the UK and Ireland,
A seasonal buffet style menu will be served from November 15 until December 22.
The new menu is centred on burgers, pies and wraps – but with a Christmas twist.
Pub spokesman Eddie Gershon said: “We will still be serving a range of Christmas meals, all day.
“A number of high street restaurant operators don’t offer a Christmas roast but do offer meals that are Christmas-based and Wetherspoon is taking a similar approach.
“A few months ago all Wetherspoon pubs stopped serving a Sunday roast and it would be difficult to bring back a roast just for the seasonal offers."
So here’s what’s on offer at your local over Christmas.
