But don’t worry guys – they are probably lying.

The average time it takes a man to orgasm is just two to three minutes, according to sex researchers Masters and Johnson..

The bad news is that there is a bit of a difference between women and men.

When they’re masterbating, it’s almost the same – with men taking two minutes and women four minutes to climax.

But when it comes to foreplay and vaginal sex a woman takes between 10 and 20 minutes to climax while a man takes 7-14 minutes and typically ejaculates two to three minutes after entering the vagina.

The post-coital slump means it takes 30 minutes for man’s body to return to it’s normal state after climax.

But according to Masters and Johnson, a man's refractory period (the time in which he needs to rest before achieving another orgasm) can last anywhere from one minute to an hour.

Not surprisingly there’s also a big gap between the number of times women climax and how often their partner THINKS they did.

A recent study from Indiana University's Center for Sexual Health Promotion found that while 64 percent of women reached orgasm during their last sexual experience, 85 percent of men believed that their partner has climaxed.

What happens to a man’s body during orgasm?

The pelvic and lower body muscles tense up as they experience ejaculation.
Muscles at the base of the penis contract between 10 and 14 times at a rate of once a second.
The blood pressure shoots up and heart rate soars to over 100 beats per minute, similar to an intensive workout.
The penis becomes ultra- sensitive.
