WOULD you live in a house where a murder took place?

It may seem creepy, but many people have set up home in houses with horrific pasts – and some don’t even mind about the history.

Here are ten murder homes that people still live in…

755 15th Street, Boulder, Colorado,US

Six-year-old JonBenét Ramsey was found dead in her family’s home in Boulder, Colorado, on Boxing Day 1996.

The child beauty queen – who had been reported missing by her parents – was found by her father around eight hours later in the basement of the house.

She had been bludgeoned, strangled and hidden underneath a white blanket with a nylon cord around her neck, her wrists bound above her head and her mouth covered by duct tape.

The home is currently on the market, having last changed hands in 2004, when the Ramseys' home was bought by Carol Schuller Milner and her husband Tim.

Ronald DeFeo Jr murdered his entire family – father, mother, two brothers and two sisters – as they slept in the early hours of  in November 1974.

Despite the horrific nature of the shootings in this idyllic waterfront home – which has since had its number changed to 108 to discourage sightseers – the property became infamous for its alleged hauntings.

Just months after the tragedies, the Lutz family moved into the house and claimed they were terrorised by demonic forces.

Their alleged experiences were retold in Jay Anson’s 1977 book The Amityville Horror: A True Story and a Hollywood movie adaptation, which spawned several sequels.

Subsequent owners haven’t reported any paranormal activity in the house, which was last on the market in October for $955,000 (£735,000).

Laughing off rumours of its creepy reputation, selling agent Donna Walesiewicz said: “If there were a curse on it, I wouldn’t be in it.

“It is what it is, a nice old stately home.”

Jeremy Bamber slaughtered his family inside this attractive farmhouse in the quiet village of Tolleshunt D’Arcy in 1985.

He was convicted of killing his adoptive parents Nevill and June, sister Sheila and her six-year-old twin sons.

Police initially believed Sheila – a diagnosed schizophrenic – carried out the murders before turning the gun on herself.

However, her brother Bamber was eventually charged after his ex-girlfriend told police he’d confessed to her.

Ann Eaton, a niece of the farming couple, moved into the farm not long after the murders and still lives there with her family.

Since being sentenced to five life terms in 1986, Bamber has staunchly denied carrying out the murders and has tried several times to have his conviction overturned.

Jeffrey Dahmer raped, murdered and dismembered 17 men and boys between 1978 and 1991.

He carried out most of these gruesome crimes in his apartment in a block of flats in Milwaukee – which has since been torn down. It was here Dahmer – sentenced to 15 life terms – had sex with their corpses and ate parts of their bodies.

But his murderous rampage began at his beautiful childhood home in Bath, Ohio –set among 1.5 acres of woodland – in 1978.

Last August, the three-bedroom abode was put on the market for $329,000 (253,000).

Real estate agent Gregory Greco admitted: “Some people are not going to want any part of it.

“Some people want a part of it. But there have been families that have lived here since that happened.”

The terraced house where serial killer Mary Ann Cotton was arrested in 1873 has barely changed in the years since.

Now painted blue, this is the property in which Cotton – who claimed the lives of her children and up to 21 other people, mainly by arsenic poisoning – committed her final murder.

She was tried and executed by hanging at Durham County Gaol in March 1873.

News of her heinous murder spree was quick to sweep the UK, prompting a nursery rhyme that was sung to celebrate her demise.

The opening lyrics went: “Mary Ann Cotton / She’s dead and she’s rotten / She lies in her bed / With eyes wide open.”

Lord Lucan disappeared without trace after apparently bludgeoning his children’s nanny to death in the basement of his sprawling Belgravia townhouse.

He also attacked his wife Lady Lucan, who later identified the British peer as the perpetrator, and drove away from the scene in a borrowed Ford Corsair.

In a state of panic, Lord Lucan called his mother to collect the children and then sped to a friend’s house in Sussex before vanishing.

His car was subsequently recovered and a large piece of lead piping – similar to the one found at the crime scene – was discovered in his boot.

While Lord Lucan’s fate remains a mystery, the vast Belgravia home where Sandra Rivett met a brutal end in 1974 still stands.

The name of twisted sect leader Charles Manson commonly brings to mind the violent death of Sharon Tate.

The heavily-pregnant actress and three of her friends were murdered by the sadistic cult chief’s “family” – a deadly clan of devoted female followers – during a raid at the LA home she shared with film director Roman Polanski.

Days later, Manson enlisted the same murderous servants – and his henchman Charles Watson – to take the lives of Leno and Rosemary LaBianca at their house on Waverly Drive.

Unlike the Tate slayings, Manson was present as Watson, Patricia Krenwinkel and Leslie Van Houten stabbed the couple multiple times in a frenzied attack.

Forty-four years after the atrocity, the LaBianca property remains largely unaltered – save for a change in house number and a repositioned driveway.

However, mum Abigail Dengate, who now lives there, refused to let the property’s brutal past affect her.

Speaking in 2010, she said: “People have had a lot to say about this house and its history but to us it is just a home. I wasn’t thinking about who once lived here and what he died.”
