Tesco Direct drops minimum spend and £2 delivery fee on click and collect orders
You won’t have to spend over £30 to get free delivery from Tesco Direct anymore
TESCO DIRECT has dropped its minimum spend for click and collect orders from today.
In the past shoppers had to spend over £30 or pay a £2 delivery fee.
Unfortunately, the changes do not apply to grocery orders but only items ordered via Tesco Direct and delivered to stores around the UK.
Tesco first introduced the charge in February this year, blaming rival supermarkets who also charge similar fees for their click and collect services.
The supermarket giant said that it had now ditched the charge because it wants to give shoppers more choice and convenience - especially at this time of year.
It also promised to keep the service free until the end of the year at least.
A spokesperson said: “With Halloween quickly approaching and Christmas just around the corner, the next few months are extremely busy for our customers.
“That’s why, as an extra little help, we’re offering free next day click and collect on all Tesco direct orders.”
The change was spotted by users on . Click and collect from Tesco Direct is available at 2500 stores across the UK.
Earlier this year Tesco launched a same-day click and collect service for groceries, in order to rival Amazon.
The US online giant launched a same-day delivery service for 130,000 fresh and frozen grocery items, called Amazon Fresh, in June.
