Halloween 2016 events in the UK and Ireland – from London’s zombie pub crawl to Edinburgh’s fire festival

Fright night is flying back in on its broomstick, so with October 31 looming it’s time to get booking if you want to go along to one of the country’s biggest Halloween attractions this year.
There are witches and wizards, ghosts and ghoulies and even the occasional zombie apocalypse to content with.
So here is our round-up of the most entertainingly terrifying Halloween events around the UK.
Halloween Zombie Pub Crawl - London
Hosted by the Zombie Pub Crawl is billed as the biggest, baddest & maddest in the UK.
Dig out your scariest, most terrifying fake-blood drenched outfits and join a team of brain-dead, flesh-eating zombies as they groan and sway their way from Soho bar to Soho bar.
There are prizes on offer for the best fancy dress, and the bar crawl takes place on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday – so take your pick.
Tickets are from £20, but you get a lot of bang for your buck, with entry, five shots, free T-shirt and pen and the services of a professional photographer all included.
Pick Your Own Pumpkin - London
This one is a little more child friendly with pumpkin picking for your little ones starting from just £1.
The Pumpkin Trailer at The Strawberry farm is just a mile from Upminster Station and they are poised and ready to help you find the ideal veg for carving.
Ghost bus tour - York
Further up north in York, the could be the perfect way to spook yourself on October 31st.
With professional actors driving you around the ghostly sights of the city, the stops include Ghoulygate, the River Ooze, Treasurer’s Hearse, Skulldergate and Gravesmire.
Guests should be prepared from some scares and surprises aboard the old funeral bus.
Individual tickets cost £15 for adults and £10 for children, with discounts for students and groups.
Scaresville - The Haunted Village - Suffolk
This October the has once again mysteriously popped up in the grounds of Kentwell Hall in Suffolk.
Guests are terrified with an adrenalin fuelled mix of haunted rooms, eerie open farmland and frightening forests.
But at Scaresville there is no rest – with no safe zones in sight you better be on your guard at all times.
Demand is high on Halloween weekend, but don't fear: the terrifying attraction will remain in place until Saturday November 5, when it vanishes into the night once more.
Screamfest – Staffordshire
Leave the kiddies at home for the house of horror.
is divided into five terrifying attractions- The Night Bringer, Freakout Funhouse, Children of the Corn, Soul Seekers and Nocturnal.
Each more scary than the next, they are based on chillingly realistic storylines.
There’s also a street theatre, side shows and a zombie paintball smash to sink your teeth into.
Dr. Fright’s Halloween Nights- Northamptonshire
Dr. Frights is a must for all thrill seekers.
The features some of the longest most terrifying mazes and walk-through scenes in the country.
Haunted Spooktacular Horror Farm - Co. Meath Ireland
This alarming is so intense that it really should be booked with caution, if you have a nervous disposition give it a miss!
So for those who are brave enough, roll-up and live your own nightmare with attractions like The Asylum, The School House Massacre and Infinity Mirror Maze to scare the life out of you.
Virginia Pumpkin Festival - Co. Cavan Ireland
The is an extravaganza which culminates in the Grand Carnival parade with a spectacular fireworks show and Ireland’s largest fancy dress ball.
The parade has been known to include aerial performers on the Sky Hook and the Empress Tower, mechanical horses, glittering mirrors, dancing girls and exotic giant lanterns in addition to the famous giant pumpkin!
Samhuinn Fire Festival
The is an outdoor performance that tells the ancient story of winter overcoming summer with a fight between the winter and summer kings.
The sensational performance includes dancers, narrative and a music to tell the story, as well as some striking fire stunts.
