Does this spooky photo taken at a stately home show the cloaked ghost of a woman who DROWNED 300 years ago?

The eagle-eyed visitor is certain that the unusual silhouette is a spirit

A SPOOKED woman has claimed to have captured the ghost of a woman on camera.

Diane Barron, 46, from Norwich, Norfolk, snapped the eerie spirit at National Heritage site Oxburgh Hall.

She believes the ghost in question is that of a woman who reportedly went missing 300 years ago.

Covered in misty black robes and leaning with two hands on the wall of the bridge, the ghoul appears less than a meter away from another visitor who stands completely oblivious to the other-worldly presence.

Diane was on a trip to the medieval family home of courtier Sir Edmund Bedingfield, built in 1482.

Eagle-eyed Diane, only spotted the unusual figure when she reviewed her pictures after her visit and is certain that it must be a spirit.

She is not the first person to have sensed a ghost at Oxburgh Hall.

Previous online reports claim that a cloaked figure has haunted the grounds of the stately home ever since she went missing three-hundred-years-ago.

During the reign of Queen Elizabeth I, Oxburgh Hall provided shelter to Catholic priests fleeing persecution, but it is also reportedly haunted by the ghost of a Spanish woman who disappeared on the estate around the 16th century.

When posted online, the picture has received a great deal of controversy.

Despite numerous doubters, Diane adamantly maintains that she did not edit her picture and that there was in fact a dark figure on the bridge.

Diane, who is a customer advisor, said: "It was just a normal day, sunny with some clouds, we'd used our National Trust cards to visit the hall.

"I took several pictures and there were no special events on at the hall on the day.

"It wasn't until later that I saw there was a dark figure on the bridge at the hall.”

She insists that when she took the photo she didn’t notice anything untoward.

"When I first took the picture I didn't realise I had taken anything unusual but when I enlarged the picture and zoomed in it gave the chills and friends have looked at it too who have felt the same.

"At first I thought it was someone who was out of focus but as you can see people nearby are in focus.”

Theories online have ranged from the figure being a person in fancy dress, to simply a stain on the wall.

"I enlarged the photo and sent it to several Facebook groups – there have been mixed reactions.

"But if you check pictures from the hall on Oxburgh Hall, there is no mark against the wall near the bridge.

"I can only go from the photo I took and it was not altered in any way and had not set out to change the photo."

Varying reports have surfaced in the past about hauntings at the location, which was granted to the National Trust in 1952.

Medium Ian Griffiths, who is able to read psychic meaning from photographs, supports the belief that the spirit could be a woman who went missing.

Medium Ian Griffiths said: "My guide tells me there's definitely a ghost spirit there.

"I feel it's a young woman around the age of 23-years-old with long, dark brown hair who was very pretty looking.”

He can even gauge a sense of the history of this potential spirit.

"I feel she was around eight months pregnant and was drowned, it was something to do with struggling under the water,” he said.

"She was not married, her father worked with the Kings' horses and she's been seen on some stairs inside the castle."

Could this image be proof of ghouls and ghosts?
