Does wearing a bra cause breast cancer? Health ‘expert’ is slammed for her claims on Instagram

Nikisha Brunson posted the controversial video on social media, claiming that "bouncing bosoms help clear the lymphatics"

Wellness blogger Nikisha Brunson claimed that wearing a bra can lead to breast cancer

WE all know bras are an uncomfortable, expensive nightmare. If your underwire isn't stabbing you in the rib then your straps are digging in or the lace is itching...

But one thing we probably can't blame our bras for is giving us breast CANCER, as this 'wellness influencer' discovered.

Nikisha Brunson is a self-styled wellness expert, with almost 60k Instagram followers.

She claimed in the post, shared on her social media channels, that going bra-free can help to prevent cancer, as too much pressure on breasts "can cause lymph valves and vessels to close," preventing toxins from draining from breast tissue.

However, she didn't stop there, and also claimed that: "3 out of 4 women who wore their bras to sleep contracted breast cancer."

"So did 1 out of 7 women strapped into a bra more than 12 hrs a day. Bra free women have just a 1 in 168 chance of being diagnosed with breast cancer."

Social media users slammed her claims as unscientific and misleading

While the post has been flooded with comments - both positive and negative - these claims have no scientific basis, and social media users dragged her claims that "bras may lead to cancer."

Writer Sali Hughes described Nikisha's claims as disgraceful...

Doctor Amy Morgan also refuted the social media star's videos, calling them "dangerous" and "irresponsible rubbish."

The Sun has contacted Nikisha for comment. Read the blogger's full post .

Breast Cancer Risk Factors

The main risk factors for developing the disease are gender, as women are far more likely to suffer, age, as getting older increases your risk, and a family history of the disease.

Other factors include: smoking, alcohol consumption and being overweight. There is no scientific evidence to date that suggests bras can cause breast cancer.
