Remember the girl who played Veruca Salt in Charlie And The Chocolate Factory? Here’s what she’s up to now
Julia Winter disappeared from the limelight after the Johnny Depp movie
ALL over the world, Roald Dahl fans are marking his 100th birthday today and no doubt many will be reaching for one of the many movies based on his books.
One of the best known – Charlie and The Chocolate Factory – starred Johnny Depp as Willy Wonka and launched the Hollywood career of Freddie Highmore, who played Charlie.
But what became of the little girl who played spoilt brat Veruca Salt?
Julia Winter was born in Stockholm in Sweden and raised in the UK.
At 12, she became the envy of children everywhere when she was picked from a part time theatre school in London and given the role of Veruca in the 2005 Tim Burton movie.
But unlike co-star Freddie, who now stars in Bates Motel, Julia never acted again.
The former child star disappeared off the radar and shunned social media.
In the years following the hot film Julia, now 23, got her head into her books and finished her studies.
