This is the gross reason you should NEVER apply your foundation with your fingers
Imagine the millions of germs you come into contact with every day... and then picture yourself rubbing them into your FACE
LOOKING for perfect skin and a flawless complexion?
Then STOP applying your foundation with your fingers, as this is doing way more harm than good.
Some people promote it as nature’s way – but, let’s be honest, make-up brushes and sponges have been around for just as long as foundation has.
When you’re out-and-about, your hands come into contact with millions of germs on keyboards, cash, doorknobs, and buttons for train doors or lifts – all of which can trigger acne and break-outs.
While germs themselves don’t cause pimples, they can become trapped under the skin’s surface and block hair follicles – allowing spots to form in these areas.
By touching your spots, you also spread P. acnes – the bacteria that grow inside your pores, clogging them and resulting in eruptions.
While using a make-up brush should also give you a more even, thicker sheen with your chosen face product.
Touching your face regularly also makes you more likely to catch a virus, such as flu.
Your hands could be covered in bugs but as long as you’re not spreading them to your eyes, nose and lips you can get away without infecting yourself.
Touching your face with your fingers also aggravates skin conditions such as dermatitis, psoriasis and eczema.
And it’s not just germs you have to watch out for. The more you rub your make-up in, the more the oil and bacteria from your hands will clog your pores.
For the same reason, you should make sure you wash your make-up brushes regularly with shampoo, not just water.
If you need to touch up your foundation, and don’t have a brush on you, make sure you wash your hands thoroughly before use.
