You know that guy who was taking up way too much room next to you on the bus this morning? Well, maybe he was actually trying to tell you something...

According to human behaviour expert Vanessa Van Edwards, any time a man tries to spread himself out he's giving you the come on.

"The behaviour is based in ancient history and is rooted in being able to protect," she told .

“When men want to be seen as both attractive and protective, they will often splay their legs or drape their arms around nearby objects, like a chair or stool."

So there is reason behind the 'subtly placing arm along the back of the cinema chair' dating move after all.

Being attentive

Of course it could just be that whatever you have to say is so enthralling he's hanging on your every word.

But more likely is that he's trying to show you he likes you.

Not sure which one? Think about what he's bringing to the conversation.

If he's all ears about whatever you have to say, keeps asking questions and seems totally focused on you, it's a pretty hefty giveaway that it's all systems go.

So you had a great chat with him at that party, told him all about your life and family and now you're meeting up again.
