Ghostly goings on

A dark spooky spirit with red eyes: Could the spectre of a 16th century monk murdered by Henry VIII at Glastonbury Abbey have been caught on camera?

Laura Tetlow was at the abbey for a music concert when she noticed a mysterious figure lurking in her eerie images

A WOMAN claims to have snapped a shot of a ghostly spirit at the famous abbey and she believes it could be the spectre of a monk killed by Henry VIII.

Lara Tetlow, 24, caught the eerie images on her camera while she was enjoying the Glastonbury Abbey Musical Extravaganza earlier this month.

Laura, from Bristol, said no one was around the ruins when she took the picture of a spooky supernatural figure with red eyes on August 6.

After researching the history of the abbey, it is thought it could be the spirit of 16th century monk who was killed by the King of England after they were engaged in a disagreement.

In 1539 Henry VIII closed Glastonbury Abbey but the abbot refused to submit to the King, so in 1539 the abbot and two other monks were hung, drawn and quartered.

The quarters of the bodies were publicly displayed in Glastonbury and other Somerset towns and Glastonbury Abbey was sacked then it was 'cannibalized' by people who took stone.

Lara said: ''The other day I looked more closely at the images and saw a mysterious black "monk" like figure by the abbey ruins in several of the photos I took.

"I have no idea what they are - but I know no one was standing there at the time.

"I had a look online and found a few stories of people seeing ghosts of monks in the ruins of the abbey."

Last week a gobsmacked mum claims she’s caught the ghost of a ‘black-eyed girl’ on camera at a Victorian museum.

Louise Murphy snapped what she believes could be one of the clearest images of a GHOST on camera she has ever seen, at the Riverside museum in Glasgow.

The mum-of-two was treated her nine-year-old son Owen to a museum trip when she began taking photos .

Despite only Owen being close when the picture was taken, Louise was shocked to discover the haunting image of a little girl with long brown hair, waving at the camera and wearing a floral dress.
