MAN'S BEST FRIEND

Girl moves internet users to tears with heart-breaking photos sharing her beloved dog’s final day

The devoted owner took her dog out for one last pamper

ANYONE who has ever owned a pet will know the pain of losing your four-legged friend.

But one Imgur user has left the internet heartbroken after sharing the story of her dog's last day.

Under a series of photos the girl, who does not share her name, explains that the dog, Hannah, has been suffering from seizures, as well as kidney problems and pain in her elbows and hips.

She wrote: "For about two months Hannah has been having seizures, they were small and nothing to worry about, but they gradually got worse. Hannah was on a couple of meds, one for her kidneys and another for the pain she had in her elbows and her hips.

"When she wasn't on her meds, she didn't have really bad seizures, she had them, but they weren't horrible, but when she wasn't on her meds, she couldn't walk well or make it up the stairs, several times she fell down them or up them."

"I finally decided that keeping her on the meds was selfish, but keeping her off of them was just as cruel. So I decided to give her one last hoo-rah day of pampering, like the queen she's always been, and let her go. Where there would be no pain, no seizures, no whimpering in the night. Just peace and hopefully love.  R.I.P. Hannah."

Then, the photos themselves show her taking Hannah for a day out doing all of her favourite things - including going for a final McDonald's cheeseburger, having her nails painted and playing with her friends.

Tragically, the photos also show her family saying their final goodbyes - before the set of photos ends with one final heartbreaking image of Hannah's owner lying next to her after she's been put to sleep.

Commenting on the photos, one Imgur user said: "I don't even have the words to explain how this made me feel. You did what you knew was right, even though it was hard."

Meanwhile, another, who worked in a vet clinic, posted: "Could do five in a day and it never gets easier. Ever."
