Fitness fanatic blasts vile trolls for claiming victims of sex attacks get what they ‘deserve’ if they wear ‘revealing’ gym wear
Erin Bailey decided to write a heart-felt post speaking out against sexual harassment on her blog
A FITNESS instructor has been praised after she hit out at vile trolls who claim victims of sex attacks get "what they deserve" for wearing revealing gym gear.
Erin Bailey, from Boston, US, decided to write a heart-felt post speaking out against sexual harassment on her .
Entitled "What do we deserve?", the 25-year-old starts of by describing herself as 5'8" tall and weigh 132 lbs with dark brown medium long hair and green/hazel eyes.
"I'm flat chested and the curves I have are built by hours, months and years I spent working in the gym," she added.
Erin then justifies her choice of gym clothes she wears including Nike compression shorts and a sports bra explaining that "heat with layers is plain brutal" especially while working out in hot temperatures.
She then goes into detail about her personal experiences with harassment including getting abused verbally while out and about, or in the park and even at the gym.
Erin recalls the time a man went up to her in the park to tell her the things he "wanted to do" to her.
Others tales include her being catcalled in the street a number of times and being told her leggings would "look better off" while at the gym.
"Don't ask me what I was wearing. That's not the question," she said. "If we stopped doing things that felt or seemed dangerous, we wouldn't live."
She is quick to point out that these incidents only make up "five per cent of the harassment" this year before asking "What do I deserve?".
Erin continued: "I deserve to be treated like a human, not just a woman, because that means something different these days. And us women, what do we deserve?"
She added: We deserve not to feel silenced by your yells. We deserve to feel empowered for bettering ourselves. We deserve to feel sexy in our own skin without feeling like we're here to bait you.
"We deserve to speak out without the threat of you lingering on our minds. We deserve to run outside.
We deserve to be judged on our merits, not our outfits. We deserve more. A whole lot more."
The fitness fanatic, who has over 5,900 followers on , has inspired other women to share their own stories of sexual harassment - with her post attracting more than 1,733 comments.
