Council workers in Leeds urged to go back to school after ludicrous ‘no parking’ spelling blunder
Could the council really have sprayed on this message?
FURIOUS residents have accused their local council of making an embarrassing spelling error.
The cringe-worthy gaffe was spotted at the entrance of Burley Park, where it informs drivers: “No Parking Hear”.
Even though it seems unlikely that authorities would haphazardly graffiti the message onto the road with a spray can, locals have hit-out at Leeds City Council for the spelling mistake.
A number of residents have taken to social media to share snaps of the dodgy roadside warning.
Local resident Elizabeth Pike contacted Leeds City Council’s Facebook page and attached a photo of error.
She said: “Loving the new painted sign at Burley Park gates. I think a few English lessons could be in order for whoever painted it.”
Carly Pedersen also posted a photo to the council and said: “Is this an official council sign? If so I suggest someone needs to go back to school and learn their English!”
While Ruth McKee wrote: “It upsets me that someone painted this horrendous spelling mistake!!”
Since the mistake was outed online, a mystery do-gooder has blocked over the graffiti.
Sadly, not everyone is happy with the choice of amendment.
Instead of removing the graffiti from the pavement, “hear” has been covered up by white paint.
Resident Elizabeth Pike, who often walks in Burley Park, said that the cover-up was “unprofessional”.
She said: “It must have been painted on the 4th August during the day as I visit the park every morning and it was there on 5th August at 6.30am.
“It must have been covered over on Monday 8th through the day as it was covered over when I visited the park at 6.30am Tuesday 9th August but was still uncovered on Monday am. Just looks really unprofessional.”
A Leeds City Council spokesperson said: “As soon as this was brought to our attention, it was dealt with.”
