US singer Pink divides Instagram after sharing a snap of her breastfeeding her toddler

The popular recording artist isn't the first celebrity to pose nursing their kids

IN support of National Breastfeeding Week, popular singer Pink has shared a picture of herself nursing her toddler Willow.

Although hundreds of Instagram users have praised the Grammy Award-winning artist for being an “inspiration”, some critics have blasted Pink for “oversharing”.

This week, Pink took to Twitter to share a picture of herself and her daughter, which was taken in 2012.

The 36-year-old captioned the image: “In honor of #nationalbreastfeedingweek2016 I proudly post this photo of a very HEALTHY, NATURAL act between mother and child.

“Taken in Helsinki by a very supportive and proud Papa.”

It’s not the first time that the Get This Party Started singer has publicly backed breastfeeding.

In an interview with British comedian Alan Carr in 2012, she revealed that a passer-by had shown her disgust at her breastfeeding in public.

Reports also suggest that Pink, who is married to motorcross racer Carey Hart, nursed her baby during an interview with American presenter Ryan Seacrest.

The vast majority of internet users have flocked to the US star’s Instagram page to thank her for supporting breastfeeding.

A proud mum commented: “Thank you Pink for normalising breastfeeding a toddler.

“My son is still feeding at 29 months and it is by far the best experience of my life... makes me proud to see this.”

Another agreed: “What is more beautiful than mother providing for her child? Thank you for sharing such lovely moment.”

Although there was overwhelming support for the celebrity mum, not everyone agreed with her posting personal family photos on social media.

One Instagram user remarked: “It's not that it's my business how long people want to breastfeed… but it's just oversharing in my opinion at this point.”

Another commenter accused her of "jumping on the celebrity breastfeeding bandwagon".

Pink isn’t the first celebrity to show her support for breastfeeding through the years.

Last month, American actress and former model Liv Tyler shared a selfie of her nursing her baby girl.

Supermodel Gisele and actress Jaime King are among other celebrity mums to upload breastfeeding snaps to Instagram.
