Is this the most pointless Dragons’ Den invention ever? Man fails to impress Peter Jones with ‘ridiculous’ device for folding paper
The Dragons were left open-mouthed a bid to bag £40,000 for a tool to get a better crease in paper
THERE have been some pretty bizarre inventions on Dragons’ Den but last night the panel’s jaws literally dropped in disbelief at one pitch.
Rupert Evans wanted £40,000 to help launch a tool that slipped on the finger to help people FOLD PAPER.
The Fold-Ease was branded “ridiculous” by Peter Jones and had Deborah Meaden dissolving in giggles.
Ambitious Rupert, from Norwich, told the Dragons he had come up with “a patented one- of-a-kind paper and card folding tool which prevents friction burns and paper cuts, sits comfortably on the finger or thumb speeds up folding and creates a really neat crease line.”
Before he’d finished his pitch, Peter was shaking his head and Sarah Willingham was staring at him in open-mouthed shock.
When she could finally speak, she asked: “This is to fold paper? Why?”
Rupert replied: “For people who want to create a neater crease line. Say for instance you are in a secretarial role or an admin role.”
Peter chipped in with: “It’s ridiculous.”
Nick Jenkins found something nice to say about it adding: “What I love about it is the attention to detail. There’s a hole for the nail to poke through.”
Trying to keep a straight face, Deborah demonstrated by poking her talon through and then found a new use for the strange invention.

The businesswoman – who famously rubs her fingers together when considering a deal – tried her trademark move while wearing the Fold-Ease.
She revealed: “To be fair there’s something quite pleasing about that.”
But Peter Jones was having none of it.
He ranted: “To have a pair of roller skates on the end of your finger to fold paper is just plain stupid.”
Needless to say, Rupert walked away empty-handed – apart from the little blue paper-folding thimbles on each finger.
