Effy’s pregnant and Cassie’s in Game of Thrones… here’s what the cast of the first series of Skins are up to now
Nick Holt and Dev Patel are rarely off our screens, but what are the others doing?
IT’S been nine years since Skins crashed into the nation’s living rooms with its drug-fuelled parties and the naughty antics of nine slightly misguided teens.
The series had several reincarnations, with each new group starring in two seasons of the E4 cult show – following them through the two years of six form college in leafy Bristol.
But the original cast still hold a special place in all our hearts.
Nicholas Holt, who played Tony, was already a Hollywood A-Lister, having starred alongside Hugh Grant in About A Boy.
And Dev Patel, who played Anwar, is probably the show’s greatest success story, going on to star in Danny Boyle’s Oscar winning movie Slumdog Millionaire and The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.
But where are the rest of the cast today?
Effy
It was only a matter of time until wild child Effy got up the duff, and the now the actress who played Tony’s little sis is living up to expectations.
Kaya Scodelario is recently married, and expecting her first child with hubby Benjamin Walker.
Since leaving the show, which she starred in for four years, the stunning 24-year-old has gone on to star in The Maze Runner and feature in four Plan B music videos.
Kaya also had a brief fling with co-star Jack O’Connell – who played Cook in the second casting.
Watch out for the brunette babe in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, which will hit our screens in 2017.
Maxxie
Everyone’s GBF, the utterly camp dancer Maxxie, is now sporting a fairly different look.
Gone is Mitch Hewer’s bleached blond hair, he is now a brunette and sporting an impressive beard.
The 27-year-old starred in Take That musical Never Forget in 2009, and TV series Britannia High just after leaving Skins.
Mitch now makes YouTube videos – including this one, where his girlfriend gives him a makeover.
Yes, you heard that right. He’s loved up with blogger Laura Blair, better known as The London Fashion Girl.
Cassie
The actress who played sensitive anorexia sufferer Cassie went on to star alongside Johnny Depp in Dark Shadows, and won ‘best actress’ at the Tribeca Film Festival for her leading role in film Brigend.
Hannah Murray, 27, is now most well-known for playing Gilly in Game of Thrones.
Chris
Back in the day, Chris was popping pills and embarking on an affair with his unlucky-in-love teacher.
Joe Dempsie has since appeared in This is England, Doctor Who and Merlin – and also played Gendry in Game of Thrones.
And the 29-year-old looks COMPLETELY different – and lives with Larissa Wilson, who played musician Jal.
Jal
Rarely seen without her clarinet, geeky Jal was a lot more straight-laced than her college pals.
Since the noughties, Joe’s flatmate Larissa Wilson has gone on to appear in Holby City, The Town and Suspects.
Other than that, the 27-year-old has disappeared off our screens somewhat.
Michelle
Sex bomb Michelle has also gone off the radar – although she did once appear in a Wombats video.
April Pearson has also appeared in Casualty, and a series of short films.
The 27-year-old has 81,000 followers on Instagram, where she promotes products.
Sid
The actor behind loveable Bristolian Sid starred in indie movies We are the Freaks, in 2013, and 1066: The Battle for Middle Earth, in 2009.
Since then, things have gone a bit quiet for Mike Bailey, who is now 28.
