And, if it's anything like usual, that will be the last time we get any vitamin D for weeks - so how to make our newly-acquired tans last until then?

We all exfoliate 'til we're raw before sunning ourselves and then moisturise to the max afterwards - but it's just not enough to keep that golden glow.

#5 Drink water

No matter what the lotions say, there's nothing like hydrating from the inside out to keep your skin plump and smooth.

Drinking water prolongs the life of cells so it keeps those nicely tanned ones in action for longer.

Steer away from the lattes and other caffeinated drinks like Coke and opt for water or super-hydrating (sugar free) coconut water instead.

Remember that alcohol is also dehydrating so, if you've been on an all-nighter, don't forget to overload on the H2O the next day!

#6 Take cool showers

Hot baths can dehydrate your skin, which we all know by now is the absolute worst thing when you're trying to preserve that holiday glow.

So crank down the heat to help keep your skin in tip-top condition and that tan intact.
