‘It looks so cheap!: Bride cries when she sees the skimpy wedding dress her groom has DESIGNED for her… after throwing her a £150 hen so he can spend £1,500 jetting to Marbella with mates
Ryan takes charge of his wedding to Maria on Don't Tell The Bride
ASK most brides and there's one thing they aren't prepared to compromise on - we're talking about the dress of course.
That was definitely the case for Maria, 23, who is set to marry 24-year-old Ryan.
The couple met while at college seven years ago and can't wait to tie the knot, although there's just one sticking point for Maria.
The couple are taking part in Don't Tell The Bride, the Sky 1 TV show which sees grooms making all the decisions about the big day in exchange for £14,000.
The couple spent three weeks apart while Ryan was planning, but beforehand Maria made her feelings clear.
"I want a nice designer dress with a price tag to match," she said, adding later: "It’s probably the biggest part of this whole process, that’s the biggest risk.
"Him choosing the dress, me having no control over it.
"It mustn’t be a joke. It mustn’t be stupid and it mustn’t be a dumb colour."
Something seemed to get a little lost in translation though, as Ryan decided the best way to make his bride-to-be's dreams come true was to design her dress HIMSELF.
Sure he'd come up trumps, Ryan waited to hear what his fiancee thought of the dress.

"Oh my God I feel so sick… oh my God… I don’t know… I just don’t know, it’s nuts," she spluttered as she saw the one-off creation.
Then the tears came: "The top is awful, oh man what has he done.
“This is actually nuts.
"It looks so cheap… Can I get it off now. I don’t want to do this anymore.”
Maria's mum Paula wasn't impressed either and got straight on the phone to Ryan and his best man.
After demanding to know if the gown was a joke, a tearful Maria took the phone.
"Why would you take a risk on the one thing I told you not to?”
To be fair to the intensive care nurse, she'd already put up with more than most would.
She was only given £150 for her hen do, which doesn't go that far when you're trying to have a night out in London with friends.
In fact, it bags you a single drink and a shot each.
Of course that's understandable if Ryan had been scrimping too, but things were a little different for the groom... he and his friends jetted off on an all-expenses paid trip to MARBELLA.
"When I hear her voice in an angry way, it doesn’t really make me feel good about myself at all," he said after hearing the hen do hadn't gone down well.
"That’s not gonna put me down on my night out, I’m gonna go out with the boys, smash it and go big."
Maria and Ryan's episode of Don't Tell The Bride airs on Sky 1 on Thursday July 28 at 9pm.
