Amy Lasch, 52, styled the Republican presidential candidate's mane when he worked on The Apprentice USA
IT ATTRACTS nearly as much attention as his controversial political views - and now Donald Trump's ex-hairdresser has shared the secrets behind his famous mane.
Amy Lasch, who worked with the Republican presidential candidate when he starred on The Apprentice USA, has shared her views on his "calamity" dye job and why he needs to stop going OTT with the gel.
The 52-year-old stylist also put to bed claims that Donald's barnet is a wig or the result of a hair transplant.
Speaking to the , she revealed his locks are 100 per cent au natural.
"He has really long hair and he combs it back straight," she said.
"He does it himself. It is real and it is his hair - he doesn't have plugs."
Amy believes his trademark mullet is the result of a family member getting a bit snap happy with the scissors.
She added: "When I looked at the back of his hair I could tell it was not a hairdresser cutting it.
"It was scary. It was just cut in a straight line."
She believes Donald might trust his "wife or maybe his daughter" to give him a trim.
Amy described his platinum blonde dye job as a disaster and that it was "inconsistent" and "not done correctly".
She also revealed he had a bit of a penchant for splattering on copious amounts of lacquer.
"He used to spray with a stickiness to hold it in place," she said.
Amy admitted she'd struggle to get her comb through his "solid" style that was "matted to stay put".
