These tricks and tips, collated by , promise to drag out your battery life so nothing can come between you and the charming creatures.

1. Turn off Augmented Reality

It may be a cool feature, but the augmented reality aspect of the game, which superimposes Pokémon on whatever is in your camera's field of view, really burns battery life.

You can turn this feature off at any time to conserve power, and instead of your cluttered office surroundings, that Bulbasaur will appear on a plainer green background instead.

This doesn't impact on gameplay at all, but it will mean you get plenty more juice out of your device before the game kills your battery completely.

You can toggle the AR feature using the slider at the top right of the screen whenever a Pokémon crops up.

2. Turn on the Pokémon Go battery saver

The wildly popular game actually comes with a built-in battery saver to keep your phone going for longer.

To turn it on, all you have to do is tap the Poké Ball at the bottom of the screen, then go in to the settings menu in the top right.

From here, you can access the battery saver option, which will dim your screen whenever it isn't being held upright.

3. Turn on your phone's battery saver

If the game's power saving mode isn't enough, you can always turn to your device's battery saver as well.

If you have an iPhone, you can find this under your settings menu, in the battery section.

And Android users need to go to the battery option under settings, where there is the option to turn battery saving mode on.

4. Reduce screen brightness

An easy way to keep on top of your phone's power consumption, dimming your device's screen will save a load of power.

On a iPhone, this option can be found in the Display & Brightness section of the settings menu, whilst Android devices hide this option under the Display section in your phone's settings.

5. Turn off music and sound effects

If you're so in the zone that you don't need music to enjoy the Pokémon Go experience, then you can turn it off to save a bit of battery life.

This option can be found in the same menu as the Pokémon Go battery saver option, in the game's settings.
